About Us:

Since its incorporation in 1971, the Fort Lee Ambulance Corps has grown from a relatively quiet transport service consisting of two Cadillac Ambulances to one of the busiest Ambulance Corps in the county proudly operating three state-of-the art ambulances. In 2004, the dedicated members of the Corps answered more than 3,300 calls for assistance in the borough and extended community.

Over 40 members, ranging from young high school and college students to men and women with a compassion and dedication for helping fellow members of their community, endured six months of rigorous but enjoyable training to become Emergency Medical Technicians and members of the Ambulance Corps.
In addition to maintaining their EMT certification, each member must be certified in defibrillation, hazardous materials, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and coaching the emergency vehicle operator. Additionally, numerous members pursue further certifications varying from weapons of mass destructions to specialties in heart or respiratory related emergencies  The Corps’ duty crews are scheduled around the clock; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The Ambulance Corps also staffs a bike team often visible at special events in town such as the St. Rocco’s feast, Madonna Carnival, GWB Bridge Challenge, and the Main Street Health Fair.  The bike team carries specially designed medical equipment that allows immediate emergency care and stabilization to begin at emergency incident until the arrival of the ambulance and/or paramedics.

In addition to loaning wheelchairs, crutches and walkers to Fort Lee residents free of charge, the Corps has an annual Blood Drive in the fall of each year. The File of Life program was initiated in 2001 to provide medical information cards to Fort Lee residents. These cards contain an individual’s medical and surgical history, medications, allergies, physician as well as emergency contact information to aid our members in assisting our patients  when they call for assistance.
